Upcoming Changes: Strike Hard and Expect No Mercy

This last seven days have been wild. I signed a contract to sign and sell books at the Fort Carson PX. It is a huge opportunity. The next two days were phenomenal sales at Willowtree Festival of STRIKE HARD AND EXPECT NO MERCY. Even my online books sales were up. The following morning, Koehler books informed me they are terminating the publishing contract for STRIKE HARD AND EXPECT NO MERCY, effective 1 October.
Honestly, this is an amazing opportunity and I am happy to bring STRIKE HARD AND EXPECT NO MERCY into the KNIGHT BOOKS house. There are some challenges I need to work through with this opportunity though.
First of all, it isn’t a straight transfer of the book, ISBN and all. STRIKE HARD AND EXPECT NO MERCY will rerelease with a new ISBN and will be available on Amazon.com once it is ready. Why? I intend to standardize my book distribution lines. I am extremely happy with KDP.
This means there will be a short period of time when STRIKE HARD AND EXPECT NO MERCY will not be available for purchase. You will thank me for the delay.
I am taking this opportunity to fix many of the problems with the first published edition. I’m fixing many, too many, editing failures. Sidenote: there are editors, and then there are editors. The maps will be better. To distinguish the upgraded edition, STRIKE HARD AND EXPECT NO MERCY will have a new cover. The rerelease will bring a significantly better book to your reading chair, allowing you to enjoy the story better. The story remains the same.
My cover artist will have the next cover ready by late October, so that is my personal deadline for all work. I will be unable to work on STRIKE HARD AND EXPECT NO MERCY next week as I prepare to present at the Military Writers Society of America’s annual conference in San Diego.
Part of preparing is a scramble to secure enough inventory for the book signings at Fort Carson on October 11 and November 8. I am confident I will have the new edition ready in time for the December 6 book signing.
This week has been some very late nights, but the results are worth it! For those who have wondered why I’ve dropped off the grid completely, this is the answer.
Stay tuned for the coming release date!
